Our Patron is St.Francis of Assisi
St.Francis was born in 1182 at Assisi in Italy. He was the son of a rich merchant. As a youth he had everything . He wanted wealth,friends, fame.....But young Francis was no content with these. One day he heard the Lord’s call to follow him. He heard the voice of God,†Francis build my church “. He renounced all wealth and fame and devoted his life to become an aApostle of peace and the bearer of Cchrist’s Good news. He dovoted himself to a life of prayer and good workds the five wouonds of Christ in 1224.
St.Francis died on 3 october, 1226, and declared as a saint in1230. Following the spirit of St.Francis, there arose in church numerous religious congregations and lay associations.
St.Francis loved the nature and the whole of God's creation. His love for all God's creatures, his gentleness and compassion has made him the Universal Patron of the environment. He is also known as second Christ.
